Campaigners
braved the rain to hold a protest outside of QinetiQ's site at Hurn in
Dorset.
This site is a test area for military vehicles, and we were not sure if
there would be anybody on the facility.
Fortunately our fears were dispelled as soon as we arrived, as a car which
was indicating to enter the site saw us and carried on going. As he went
passed we saw that he was wearing a QinetiQ shirt.
After a short while, our noisy protest drew the attention of neighbouring
bussineses, who all expressed support. We also drew the attention of some
QinetiQ staff, who came zooming up in a 4x4. Their image was somewhat
lost as they tryed for ages to open and eventually shut the gate. In this
time the passenger of the vehicle chatted with us, and told us that the
staff had all been ordered not to talk to any campaigners.
Eventually we decided to move down the road to the Defence Petrolium site
in West Moors. This site was swarming with military personel, who were
very curious as to what we were doing.
Several important looking people left the site, and we informed them of
QinetiQ's animal tests.
